Ottery St Mary Bowls Club president Gerry Beighton hosted Presidents Day and 50 plus members were in attendance to enjoy a glorious afternoon’s bowling followed by a sumptuous meal in the club house, writes Michael Smith.
Proceedings got underway with the inevitable spider competition.
Steve (Izzy) Goodenough getting nearest to the jack, so going home with a fine bottle of whiskey, kindly donated by Gerry.
Gerry brought proceedings to a close with an eloquent speech praising the hard work of the members who contributed to such a successful afternoon and also that the money raised on the day should be donated towards the cost of providing a defibrillator for the club - sighs of relief could be heard from the elder members of the club !
