Ottery St Mary skipper Jody Clements has come out fighting after his side lost a fourth successive Francis Clark Devon League C Division game when beaten by Ipplepen last weekend, writes Stephen Birley.

Clements said: “There were positives for us to take out for the latest defeat and its positivity we need form everyone right now. If there’s an area we must address, and quickly, then it’s the batting. What was clear against Ipplepen is that we need the back-up bowling to Mark Woodman and Rob Johns, both who bowled superbly last weekend, to produce the goods and we certainly need the batsmen to stand up and deliver. Only Lewis Townsend dug in and served up the sort of individual effort with the bat that we need from five or six of us, and on a consistent basis.”

He continued: “All is most defiantly not lost for there’s still a lot of cricket to be played and what we do not need is to be feeling sorry for ourselves. Yes, we are not getting the rub of the green, but that will change and, if we keep our heads down, work hard, and believe, things will go in our favour.”
