Three Ottery St Mary youngsters, Matt Jeacock, James Tyler and Lawrence Walker, played significant roles in the Devon Under-12 eight wicket win over Dorset at Sherborne School.

The home skipper won the toss and opted to bat, but then saw one of his openers sent back to the pavilion without troubling the scorers with Jeacock bagging the wicket with his third delivery of the contest!

Half the home side were out with just 44 runs on the board with Tyler marking his return to the county side after injury, claiming a wicket in his three overs, two of which were maidens.

Dorset were not able to recover and were eventually bowled out for 106 in 36 overs.

It was then the turn of Ottery batsman Lawrence Walker – who held three outfield catches in the home innings – to play his part, scoring an unbeaten 27 from 38 deliveries with two fours, to help guide Devon to a comfortable victory.
