Ottery St Mary Under-9s bagged a brace of 3-0 wins when they made the short trip to Seaton to contest a couple of matches in the Exeter and District Youth League.

First up the Otters took ton the host club who were a strong and skilful side. However, as the game progressed, the Otters’ excellent passing and team work came to the fore and it was no more than they deserved when Freddie Clarke fired them ahead. Shortly after young Sam Hatswell rifled a powerful shot home to send the team into half-time with a 2-0 advantage.

After the break Jack Carpenter extended the lead and thereafter the Otters closed the game out with real confidence.

Next up they faced another strong opponent in the shape of Colyton. Once again the Otters made a solid start with the defensive unit of Jake Blackmore, Ash Whitcombe and goalkeeper Zak Wilkinson proving to be more than a match for the best that Colyton could throw at them.

Freddie Clarke and Jack Carpenter put the Otters in charge before a second 3-0 success of the morning was sealed by a wonder goal from Josh Howard.

Sam Gleeson deserves special mention for his endeavours in midfield whilst defenders Ash Whitcombe and Jake Blackmore enjoyed terrific matches with some tremendous defensive work that was the foundation for the two clean sheet victories.
