With injury ruling Ottery's 16-year- old Tae Kwon Do star Martin Morgan out of competition for the last six months, he has been keeping himself busy by encouraging more youngsters to take up the sport as a way of tackling bullies and building self confidence.

Martin, got into the sport himself after being subjected to bullying at primary school. Now, after receiving a sponsorship from Jazz Apples and becoming an ambassador for Team Jazz last November, Martin is trying to raise awareness of the sport as a way of helping other children get involved who are affected by bullying.

He says: "In primary school I was a little overweight and was targeted by some bullies. It was a horrible experience and I felt I had nowhere to turn until I got involved with Tae Kwon Do. It isn't just about learning to fight, as fighting isn't the way to tackle bullies but it is a great way of getting fit, learning some important self defence techniques, building self-confidence and learning discipline."

"There are five 'tenets' of the sport which are skills that are transferrable to real life - courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit."

lJazz Apples selected Martin as an ambassador for the brand in November after he beat off fierce competition for a place in Team Jazz, a sponsorship scheme set up to help give financial support to future sport stars.
