Ottery U12s entertained St Martins from the league above but Ottery started sluggishly, and didn’t get themselves into the game, as they were harried by the opposition, who threatened with good build-up work.
Eventually, Ottery settled and started to pass the ball around well, with Noah starting off the best of the attacks with accurate passing into the midfield and forward line.
Patience and quality finally paid off as new boy Finlay netted. Ottery added a second as Arran found the net.
The game got very physical after the break, when the opposition got frustrated with Ottery dominance. Some nasty tackles went in but Ottery kept their calm and let the ball do the talking.
The second half was almost complete dominance and Ottery added three more goals. Another from Finlay and big Josh scored two good goals from wing back to secure the win. The only blip was when St. Martin’s scored, as Ottery lost their shape looking for more goals. A comfortable 5-1 win and a good way to finish off the 9v9 stage in the team.
The under 11s travelled to Lympstone and battled hard against a strong team, continuing to try and play football but defending well and never stopped trying.
The Otters lost by the odd goal, Will G scored direct from a corner but the Ottery coaches were very proud of the effort and courage on display. Well done guys.
The under 10s played there first game at home and welcomed a well organised West Exe side. Ottery went down to an early goal but continued to battle on in the first half and, despite West Exe scoring some more, Ottery replied with a couple of their own.
The second half saw a couple more goals from West Exe but Ottery never stopped battling and continued playing out from the back and, despite a heroic display from Jacob, they couldn't quite get the game back.
The coaches were very proud of the whole team, never giving up while playing some great football and continuing the philosophy of ‘we don't lose we learn’.
Next up away trip to Culm Panthers.
