The last touring team for this season were from Llandrindod, Wales and, apart from the six playing rinks, they also had 26 non-playing visitors with them.

They loved our greens and the great position we have in the centre of Sidmouth. At tea-time, Sidmouth were just a little in front, but in the second half the visitors well and truly overtook us to finish winning on 4 of the 6 rinks and overall ,102 shots to Sidmouth’s 83.

Our rink that won with an enormous score was Chris Ward, Sue Clint, Allan Davis and skip Mike Borst, 25 - 9.
It was also the last Mixed Umbrella. This extremely well supported league played on Tuesday mornings started early June and 48 players signed up. After 15 games, there was just one point difference between the two leading players. Alan Donaldson managed to seal a victory, winning with 64 points over Chris Ward's 55 points. Our thanks go to Liz and Steve Boyle for all their hard work running this league.

On club finals day, one match had to be postponed due to ill health. This was the Mens Pairs and the winners were Alun Brown and David Timms, who had an excellent victory over Ray Tallent and John Richards.

Then came the Final Drive for the Outdoor Season. Always sad, as the weather is often still good at this time of year, but the greenkeepers need to do what they have to do, ensuring the greens are in good condition for the following season.

It was an excellent turnout, with 12 teams of triples, six Blue teams playing against six Yellow teams for just 4 ends each. The best Yellows were Alun Brown, Mary Turner and Wilf Radburn with a score of plus 18. The best Blue team was Barbara Donaldson, Sue Mison and David Timms with a score of plus 17.

A final thank-you to all those that have worked so hard to keep the club going during this difficult season.

Mens Captain David, Ladies Captain Jill, Chairman John, Catering Officer Anita, Bar Steward Tony, Chief Coach Allan and many others that have quietly helped in other ways. Our Club is solely run by volunteers and we must all remember to do our bit, or suffer the consequences.
