In a time of football boredom and longing for a return to the beautiful game, the South-West Peninsula League has been celebrating the match-day programme.
A fabulous series on the SWPL twitter feed has gone right through the alphabet, asking people to send in pictures and memories from programmes and games down the Peninsula years.
We found a couple of cracking examples from Sidmouth Town, including a midweek meeting with Exwick Villa in 2016 and the front cover featured a picture of Ryan Davies scoring in a 2-2 Bank Holiday draw with Okehampton Argyle.
There is another terrific programme from April 2013, when the Vikings took on Okehampton in a game sponsored by Harrison-Lavers & Ptbury’s. What is particularly fabulous is the front-cover image, showing Sidmouth’s Paddy Thomas receiving the Axminster Hospital Cup in 1986.
We also discovered a Seaton Town programme from 2011 and a great thread to enjoy. Visit the Peninsula League twitter feed for more.
