The annual Walking Stick competition for past seniors’ captains was held at Sidmouth last Friday morning, followed by a delightful lunch with their ladies, writes Hugh Dorliac.
A record 30 diners attended the lunch that followed the competition.
Your correspondent was feeling pretty pleased with himself having scored a solid 42 points only to find it was only good enough for second place!
That’s because septuagenarian Peter Emery, who was captain in 2006, came in with a magnificent score of 43 points and took the honours and the Walking Stick trophy.
