Sidmouth U18 girls went to Exeter Saracens for their inaugural Devon Girls Rugby Festival and came home with the Plate title.
The pool games put them against Devonport Services, Bideford and a combined Newton Abbott/Teignmouth and Ivybridge, as Rosie Tidball and Meisha Parkinson both scored length of the pitch tries in the opening game.
A 49-7 defeat of Bideford in a 16-minute game showed was a great result. The next game against Devonport ended in a 7-7 draw after a Sidmouth try was disallowed. It came down to points difference and Sidmouth were in the Plate competition.
Sidmouth then defeated Exeter Saracens 21-0, with some heroic defending by Cleo Turley and Daisy Grove and prop Amber Spence, followed by an excellent win over a powerful Cullompton side.
With just nine players (in 10 a side matches) the Sidmouth girls showed how fit and skilled they were to win four games and draw one - undefeated and Plate winners.
