It’s party time for point-to-point race goers with the popular picnic track of Flete Park the venue for this Saturday’s meeting and with over one hundred entries and the weather set fair it is sure to be a great family day out, writes Donna Harris.

Two pony races start the action at 1pm with the main six race card commencing at 2pm.

Full Circle Motors sponsor the Elizabeth May Memorial Members race in which Deborah Treneer’s Uncle Keef could head the field having won the hunt members’ race at Buckfastleigh and then going on to take the mixed open at Great Trethew for jockey Tom Chanin beating Come What Augustus by 15 lengths. Sir Watty is another to consider. He mad all to win his maiden at Cherrybrook unchallenged under Darren Edwards, and Sunken Secret is a previous course winner here and recently ran well for young jockey Pippa Glanville who has moved up from pony racing and finished third at Cherrybrook in the intermediate behind Searree and Delta Borget.

In the restricted connections of Takamaru have been waiting for softer ground following her win at Great Trethew romping home 12 lengths ahead of the favourite Bach On Tow. She followed that win up with a close second behind Deb’s Dasher at Treborough Hil.

The Totnes & Bridgetown four-mile mixed open has Faasel seeking a seasons hat-trick having scored at Wadebridge ahead of Hunter Chase winner Kirkleigh, and at Blackforest Lodge when 20 lengths ahead of Betabob. Others to consider are River Indus who battled on well to win the Dulverton four-miler last month, the renowned stayer King’s Wood and previous course winner Come What Augustus.

Next up is the open maiden 2m4f and with 27 entries this race may be divided. Of the entries Posh Totty came close to winning at both Great Trethew meetings running second by a length to Typical Oscar and then second again by one and a half lengths to Railway Vic.

In the Rogers of Plymouth-sponsored confined race Print The Money won a confined at Wadebridge on soft going for jockey Josh Guerriero and trainer Jill Dennis and followed that up with a second on good to soft at Trebudannon behind King of Alcatraz.

The final race of the day is the open maiden race for four, five, six year olds and over, attracting another 27 entries this may also be divided.

The course attracts many trade stands including antiques, tack, clothing, produce and gifts. On course facilities include catering, bar and bookies. Entrance is £10 for car and driver and £20 for car and all occupants. The course is located off the A379 Modbury to Plymouth road, postcode PL21 9NX.
