ROBIN Pike's horse Rockwithacaveman won the West Country Champion Chase at Buckfastleigh on Sunday. The horse is trained at Ottery St Mary by rider Polly Gundry and her partner Ed Walker. The point to point mixed open, ultimately worth over £1,000 to the winner and the most valuable point to point ever held, was a thrilling clash with the smart John Symes-owned Whizzaar looking home and hosed two from home. But 'Rocky', ridden by reigning national champion Gundry, moved from last to first over the last two furlongs, finishing strongly on the testing ground. The race offered £700 in prize money on the day with £360 added thanks to the Brightwells Insurance Order of Merit series, of which this race was one. Polly went on to win the next race with a pillar to post victory on Jean's Joy, a horse which the couple also train.
