It seems strange to say with matches still being played in various competitions and cricket only recently underway, but the next football season is just around the corner.
For managers and coaches, the close-season period is all about planning and preparation, with Sidmouth Town boss Danny Burwood already looking forward to some enticing pre-season fixtures.
“We start our pre-season with a home game against Exwick Villa on July 6,” said Burwood. “We then go away to Exmouth Town on July 14.
“On Sunday, July 18, we play at home to Helston Athletic, who have just been promoted from the Peninsula League to the Western League.
“Next on the list is July 26 and a home game with Lyme Regis. As it stands, the last game is also at home, against Willand Rovers on August 2, which is a week before our season starts, although that game depends on whether we are involved in the FA Cup.”
