CLYST Hydon all but clinched the East Devon Indoor Cricket League title with a comfortable chase of the 104 set by closest rivals Sidmouth.

Anthony Dibble and Matt Cooke registered retirement scores for Sidmouth and there was 19 from Miles Dalton, but 103-2 was well within Clyst Hydon’s range and they passed it with two overs to spare with two

wickets down. Ian Sutton and Clint Holmes did the bulk of the work with 25s, the latter finishing the game with a six.

Clyst Hydon II were set a similar total, needing 108 to beat Newton Poppleford, and they also had two overs spare. Newton Poppleford had taken four wickets’ however, and Tim Piper and Will Greig returned to the crease after making 25 to steer their side home.

Piper finished with 39 and Greig 31. Newton Poppleford’s innings revolved mainly around Richard Coombs, with 39 not out, and Matthew Raistrick with 30.

Tipton St John’s batting failed in the face of 127-2 made by Yarcombe & Stockland. Dave O’Higgins 16 not out enabled them to reach 56 with Dickie Dawson making the only other double figure score with 10.

Leading the way for Yarcome was Richard Pulman with 43 not out. Alan Pulman and Simon Durrant also reached 25.

Clyst St George’s 143-3 proved 38 too many for Newton St Cyres who were 105 all out. Clyst St George had not out scores of 41, 27 and 25 respectively from Clinton Lewis, Tahala and Dave Takle.
