Monday saw bright and breezy conditions welcome a field of 81 players for the Charles Stanley sponsored Monday Stableford.
Scoring was very close with the leading three players all recording 37 points. Steve Punter finished well with three pars to collect a handsome payday on countback. Barry Venn just missed out in second and Chris (CC) Roberts will rue a weak finish which cost him dearly and he was relegated to third
The senior section was also tight with Phil Spencer getting the nod over Mark Laird after both returned 36. Pop Banfield and Vernon Ruffle collected the minor place money
The Eclectic is getting interesting now with a range of handicaps in the frame. Simon Emerson has used his 17 handicap to join John Jones (3) and Michael Knight (9) at the top on 51 with David Pepperell (6) and Lewis Perry (3) just one adrift. There’s still plenty to happen as any of these will need further improvement in their totals if they want to collect at the end of the season
John Jones is well clear in the Birdie Count with 30, Jonathan Lee next in the standings on 19.
