Sidmouth Raiders Under-13s were 6-2 winners when they travelled across to Lympstone for an Exeter and District Youth League game.

On a small pitch the Raiders needed to adapt their game away from the usual crisp passing style they like to play. The net result was a terrific all-round performance with some superb goals.

The early exchanges were even-steven, but Raiders struck first when Jed Pinnock latched onto a terrific pass from Lewis Rowden. The hosts responded well, but got little change out of the impressive Noah Raffell in the Raiders defence. Raffell made good tackles and then distributed the ball well from the back.

A well-worked move ended with Pinnock doubling his tally with a close range finish. However, back came the Lympets and, with two goals in 1qucxik succession, the teams trooped off for half-time all square at 2-2.

After the break Raiders had the advantage of the elements that they had battled against in the first half.

The lead was regained when a Rowden corner was turned past his own goalkeeper by an unfortunate home player!

CJ Abbott, Pinnock and Seever Abduraman all went close before Robbie Hallett smashed home the rebound after an Abbot free-kick had cannoned back off the crossbar.

A key feature of the second half was the contribution of Dylan Shepherd who spent the half seeking to get the ball back from the opposition at every opportunity.

With 15 minutes remaining Pinnock competed his hat-trick to make it 5-2 and Rowden applied a neat finish to complete the scoring minutes later.
