She also achieved fifth place in the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly. Jonathan Surtees, in the 9s age group, showed considerable improvement and won second place in 200m breaststroke, second place in 200m individual medley, fourth place in 100m individual medley and sixth place in 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle. This won him an overall Bagcat award of 5th place.Rachel Cavin, in the 9s age group, was delighted with first place for 200m breaststroke, third place for 200m individual medley and 200m freestyle and fourth place for 200m backstroke. She also recorded the second-fastest qualifying result for the final in 100m individual medley but was, unfortunately, disqualified during the final. Rachel was second overall in the Devon Bagcat awards which is calculated on points awarded for improvement in personal best times and results in preliminary heats for each age group.Joe Cox and Bethany Faulkner had excellent swims, with Joe coming 13th in the Bagcat awards and Bethany was eighth fastest in the 200m butterfly, narrowly missing a place in the final. These were all long days and required great patience and commitment from the swimmers. It was particularly heartening to see the older ones giving support and encouragement to the younger swimmers including training and race tips. It was appreciated and demonstrated the supportive culture within the club. All swimmers showed effort and determination in their events. Everyone at the club is delighted with the swimming achievements and especially proud of all the swimmers involved for their sportsmanship and excellent behaviour.TOP SWIMMERs: Julia Walkden, Bethany Faulkner, Joe Cox, Rachel Cavin and Jonathan Surtees were in Devon action.
