Harry Tincknell has begun his 2011 campaign in the ultra-competitive Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series, narrowly missing out on two top-ten finishes at Monza, Italy, on 16-17 April 2011.

The talented 19-year-old driver competes in a series that has produced many Formula One Champions, such as Jenson Button and Ayrton Senna. Tincknell, from Tipton St John, posted an impressive lap time of 1:46.145 in qualifying to secure eighth place on the grid for the first of the weekend’s three races.

Unfortunately, issues with communication in the paddock meant that seven drivers, including Tincknell, would start race one from the pits. Over the course of the 30-minute race, the Tipton youngster showed why Fortec Motorsports signed him for the 2011 season, charging to 11th and just missing out on a points finish.

Starting round two in 11th, Harry got a great start, moving up to ninth by the end of the opening lap. While battling for a higher position, Harry’s front wing sustained damage, hindering him progressing further, ending the race just outside the top-ten.

A technical issue with Harry’s car meant the start to the third round was aborted and he again started from the pits. However, from the back of the pack, Harry showed his fighting spirit with a respectable 16th place by the chequered flag.
