Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter was the guest of honour for a Question and Answer Evening at Sidmouth RFC, writes Daniel Goddard.

Club chairman Lester Wilmingtonmade the introductions before handing over club captain Dan Retter who then took charge as the compere for the evening.

The first question came from Hannah Vicary and Laiken Swain who asked about plans for an Exeter Chiefs ladies team and this was followed by topical questions from junior players including Oliver Mitchell, Henry Williams and William Cockayne.

There were also questions such as: ‘ will Exeter Chiefs’ Henry Slade and Sam Burgess make the final 31 of the England Rugby World Cup squad1? That was one of a number of questions asked by senior players including Aiden Taylor, Rory O’Brien, Jud Lascelles, Mark Ross, Tanya Mitchell and Ollie Salter and the audience heard why Rob chose Mohammed Ali and Paula Radcliffe as his favourite sports stars of all time.

Rob Baxter captivated the big audience with his honesty, his engaging personality and his support of the game at local, premiership and international level. For any young player his views about commitment, team work, personality and responsibility were truly fascinating.

After the session the Chiefs head coach mingled with the people present in a packed Blackmore clubhouse, happily signing autographs.
