Iain Roberts shot level par over the last ten holes after an uncertain start to claim victory in a fiercely contested Charles Stanely stableford Monday competition, writes George Carr.

His 39 points were enough, on the day, to pip Nick Baker and Kevin Trivett on count back.

Trivett stood level par on the 14th tee where a rueful blob spoiled his card along with bogies on 17 and 18 which allowed Nick Baker to claim second place.

Baker, in spite of birdies on the second and 13th holes, also registered a rueful blob on the closing hole which denied him outright victory - its a cruel game !

Pressing hard on the heels of the winners came Dave Cowler, Matt Barrett, Chris (CC) Roberts and Ian Peacock, all within two shots of the winner - well played, to you all.
