Sidmouth Warriors Under-10s faced their toughest test of the season to date, but emerged with flying colours after a 1-0 win over Brixington Blues, writes Chris Roberts.

The first half saw Blues the dominant force, but terrific tackling from Freddie Eul-Barker and some outstanding goalkeeping by Freddie Roberts, ensured that half-time arrived with the game still seeking its first goal.

An inspired interval team talk and some tactical tweaking by coach Mark Badcock saw Warriors begin to exact control of the second half. They got particular joy on both flanks Charlie Roberts and Ben Fisher began to cause the Blues no end of problems. Ewan Badcock led the line well and he began to test the Blues gloves man. However, the game swung from end-to-end and Warriors goalkeeper Roberts had to be at his best a couple of times.

With the game seemingly heading for a draw Charlie Roberts got away from his marker and crossed into a crowded area where Ewan Badcock rose above the Blues defenders to plant a header into the corner of the net to give Warriors a richly deserved three points.
