Sidmouth ladies played a game of three triples at home to Axminster, winning on two rinks to take the game by three shots; the best rink being Betty Farmer, Sylvia Cook and skip Evelyn Clements, write Marian and Maurice Watson.
Sidmouth Mixed had an easy win against Chardstock 98-26, the outstanding rink for Sidmouth being Ray Tallent, Chris Radburn, Brian Barber and skip Ron Cook 48-5.
Cook also skipped the only winning rink on Sunday against Torquay United in a triples match but the shot difference was not enough to overcome the losses on the other two rinks and Sidmouth lost the game 42-47. Cook’s team mates on Sunday were Marian Watson and Peter Bates.
The ladies entered two teams for the Masons Trophy, a national competition, and unfortunately were drawn to play each other in the first round.
The good news is that Sidmouth have a team in round two! The successful ladies were Jean Brimson, Mary Price, Beryl Sparkes and skip Evelyn Clements and Pat Ashton Pritchard, Pat Harvie, Chris Hamer and skip Phyll Nobbs.
