Archant

For the first time Sidmouth RFC fielded a girls’ team when U7s took on Cullompton away.

Four are needed for a team at this level and, as they had only just met, the match was more of a training session with them learning tag rugby as they went along.

Ellie Munro-Higgs, Daisy Grove, Ellie Wood and Maddy Brake followed directions well and showed energy and enthusiasm throughout. They fought a natural netball habit of passing the ball as soon as they received it and struggled with the idea of not throwing the ball forward but were hot on tagging their opponents despite being up against some bigger and more experienced boys.

They played two matches. We cannot report a win.... yet! These are very early days for a team with a lot to learn.

If any other girls of any age are keen to join in then look on the Sidmouth Rugby Club website and come along on Sundays from 10am.
