Sidmouth Rugby Club has selected Devon County player Sam Richardson as 1st Team captain for next season, writes Terry O’Brien.

Max Hansford has been reappointed as Head Coach for a second season. However, Director of Rugby Tug Wilson is currently on the lookout for a new forwards coach. Bob Smith, who has filled the role for several years, has decided to stand down.

Bob, a former Chiefs’ captain, had a distinguished playing career, during which he played for England Under-23s and played a number of times for Devon. He is very popular with the players and will be greatly missed.

A players’ meeting will be held on Friday, July 8, at which the new coaching and management set ups for all teams will be announced. Training will start at the Sidford Ground on Tuesday, July 12.
