Salter stars as Sidmouth Under-14s bag last eight berth in KO Cup
Sidmouth Town Under-14s were 6-4 winners when they visited Okehampton Argyle for an Exeter Youth League Cup tie.
The hosts made a flying start taking a first minute lead before any of the Town players had touched the ball!
Town eventually found their feet in the game and Tom Moore punished a goal-keeping error to level things up.
Back came the hosts and they were close to regaining the lead with a shot that cannoned off the crossbar.
At the other end Jay Harris put Town in front before a superb strike by Louis Adey made it 3-1.
The Okehampton striker who was doing all, the damage, hit back with a quick-fire brace to even things up before, after a few tactical adjustments the Town shape changed with Matt Salter orchestrating things from central midfield.
It was the supply to wide men Louis Spalding and Luke Spiller that became key to the games outcome. The pair were instrumental in Town regaining the lead at 4-2 when a Spiller cross was unselfishly laid off by Adey for Spalding to power the ball home. Moore then scored twice from close range to put Town into an unassailable 6-3 lead with the home side having the final word with a late fourth.
Matt Salter was named the Town Man of the Match.
