With the course drying out and becoming more demanding by the day there were very few in a large field for the latest Sidmouth Jeweller stableford meet, writes George Carr.
As a result of the conditions very few managed to shoot a score below their handicap; first among those that were came this week’s winner Roy Scriven - a new name among these columns – the winner used only 18 of his twenty shots to post a stableford score of 38 which was good enough to keep Neil Holland at bay one shot behind on 37.
The former county captain couldn’t use any of his handicap allowance because he has none to use so his admirable gross 64 (one eagle, three birdies, three bogies) for 37 points left him as runner-up.
CM Roberts (not Chris) came third with 36 points off a handicap of 24 and some very steady golf - well played, to you all.
