Sidmouth third XI made short work of defeating Upottery 2nds and, two games into the Tolchards Devon League E Division East season, the team share top spot with North Devon 2nds who, like Sidmouth thirds, have banked all 40 points available from their first two matches.

Upottery, who had only eight players on matchday one when they were bowled out for just 14, fared little better at home this time round as Sidmouth's bowlers combined to bundle the Glebe Park men out in 36 overs and one ball for just 55.

An impressive feature of the Sidmouth fielding effort was that they held eight catches with Thomas Moore claiming four of them! Toby Seldon took the bowling honours with figures of five wickets for five runs from seven overs. Charlie Dibble finished with three wickets for seven runs. The other two wickets fell to openers Fionn Wardop (1-10 from nine overs) and Lee Clayden (1-5 from 5.1 overs).

Thomas Moore then launched the run chase and he scored an unbeaten 32 as he and Dylan Hurst (6) saw their side to a swift 10 wicket win, knocking off the runs in just over five overs!

Tomorrow (Saturday), Sidmouth IIIs host an Uplyme and Lyme Regis 1st XI who are one of four teams to have won both their early season E Division East games. The others being North Devon 2nds, Sidmouth 3rds and Countess Wear 1st XI.
