Sid Vale Sharks produce fine performances in East Devon Mini League meeting.

Sid Vale Sharks travelled to the Riverside Arena in Exeter for round two of the 2013 East Devon mini league against, Newton Abbot, Torquay Leander, Dawlish, Exeter and Exmouth, writes John Beglin
The gala was all relay races and Sharks performed well in a number of the races securing wins in the girls 12 years and under 4 x 50m breaststroke relay.
The team made up of Flora Hastie, Eve Badcock, Connine Harris and Hannah Beglin. Connie Harris and Aimee Keast then teamed up with Hannah Rudgard and Issy Beech to win the 4 x 50m butterfly.
The girls quartet of Aimee Keast, Eve Badcock, Connie Harris and Issy Beech were just touched off into second place in a thrilling finish to the 4 x 50m freestyle and secured a third place finish in the 4 x 50m Individual Medley with Hannah Beglin, Eve Badcock, Aimee Keast and Flora Hastie.
Ed Bugler, Aaron Webber and Jack Faulkner were persuaded to come out of early retirement to compete in the Boys 18 and under relays and with the help of Morgan Rayner- Phillipson and younger team members Jack Simmons, Jonny Surtees and Michael Overton performed admirably in securing a second place finish in the 4 x 50m freestyle and third places in the 4 x 50m breaststroke and 4 x 50m Individual Medley.
The girls 14 and under breaststroke team comprising Rachel Cavin, Flora Hastie, Hannah Rudgard and Vicky Wyant also achieved a second place finish on the night.
Overall winners on the night were local rivals Exmouth, who finished just ahead of Dawlish and Newton Abbot, with Sid Vale Sharks fifth..
Team manager on the night Patrick Domhof commended all the swimmers, who showed a good team spirit with most swimming a number of personal best times.
Well done to all those who took part and hopefully we can look forward to challenging Exmouth for top honours in the future.
