With the tail winds of hurricane Bertha causing havoc with the weekend time trials, several Sid Valley riders took the opportunity to race over the Budlake course with varying success.

Colin Bennett knocked another 41 seconds off his seasons best with 27:07, but just in front of him was the improving Max Barlow and a new PB of 27:05.

Up and coming ride Josh Brown had that frustrating feeling with his time of 25:06 just a few seconds short of a new PB, a little more effort and less cake he will go under the 25-minute mark.

Jack Salvidge lead the way with another super ride clocking 22:49 and second place, just three seconds behind the CS Dynamo powerhouse that is Lubos Obornik. Meanwhile, the rivalry between Exeter Wheelers (EW) and Sid Valley continued in, of all places, Dorset, on the P412 where Doug Parker claimed a 10th place with his 23:08 and Mike Rose (EW) rode to a very creditable 23:45 even with a dodgy stomach!

The last of the Budlake 10’s was held on August 13 and Salvidge again showed he’s in excellent form by winning the event with a time of 22:17.

With less than a month until the National GHS Championship young Salvidge has a very good chance of doing well in this event and to think this is only his second year on the bike.
