Sidbury seniors faced London-basd touring team the Old Grammarians on Saturday.
The visitors showed great depth in their batting side in the face of a fast bowling attack from Jackson Chinnery, Joe Gosse and Barney Stone backed up by some wiley spinning from W Miller.
It was Josh Reed who claimed a brace of wickets, finishing with figures of 2-14 whilst there was also a splendid catch held by John Gosse whilst standing in as 12th man.
In their 35 overs Old Grammarians managed to register a very respectable total of 178.
Sidbury’s reply came up against an exceptional bowler of genuine pace who claimed four wicket for 22 runs.
Barney Stone and Mark Bishop held out well for a good partnership of over 30, but in the end the variety and quality of the bowling eventually overcame Sidbury, who lost by over 50 runs.
All connected with Sidbury thank Old Grammarians for their visit and for the game which saw superb sportsmanship from first delivery to last, and look forward to welcoming them back next summer.
