A terrific run chase from Axminster Town condemned Sidbury to defeat in F Division East of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League.

Batting first, Sidbury made a strong start, Ed Chester (37) and Mark Smallcombe (36) building an opening stand of 56. Captain Alex Paget also made a handy impact with a 41 and Sidbury were in a decent position on 157/4.

Unfortunately, the tail was unable to find any sort of wag, as the final six wickets fell for just 35 runs.

Axminster began their chase of the 192 total in confident fashion, with Andrew Guppy hitting a nice half century. However, it was number three Paul Miller who made the biggest impact, as he scored an impressive 84 not out.

Paget did grab a couple of quick wickets to give his side a glimmer of hope but Miller remained in control to steer his side to victory.
