Beacon Knights 0, Sidbury United 6 United travelled to the unbeaten Exeter-based side and unceremoniously ended their fine start with a powerful all-round show.

The first 20 minutes were a cagey affair as both sides tested the other out.

The best of the chances in that period fell to the home side, but a free-header from a corner was put wide of the target.

Sidbury grew in confidence and the midfield trio of Seldon, Cox and Salter took charge of the game.

On the half hour Dave Green played a one-two with Ashley Small after which he rounded the keeper, but he rolled the ball wide of the goal.

Five minutes later United did take the lead when the same combination worked more magic and this time Small got in and tucked the ball home.

Small quickly doubled his tally with a half-volley from six-yards and completed his hat-trick with a shot that took a deflection past the home glovesman to send United into the break with a 3-0 lead.

The second half saw Sidbury play the best football the club chairman had seen in 60 years at the club! The work rate and general passing was of the highest quality!

Small was hauled down in the area in the 55th minute and Green slammed the resultant penalty in off the cross bar to make it 4-0.

With a healthy lead United boss Schofield rang the changes and, much to the relief of the home team, withdrew all three of his front men.

Goal number five was a glancing header at the near post from Kees Willis after a cross from Conner Hannaford.

The sixth and final goal was the icing on the cake! Mark Hadley brought a ball down with his heel and played it back to Adam Connett who then played a one-two with Hadley, and then did similar with Danny Green before opening up his body 15-yards out and bending the ball round the keeper and into the corner of the net.

The goal weas a tremendous way to mark his first start after a year out of the game with injury!

Manager Schofield said: “We have been working hard in training working on retaining the ball in tight areas. That work paid off in this game. Everyone played their part in a superb all-round performance. IT all clicked and some of the play really was awesome. If we can repeat this sort of performance on a consistent basis then the sky really is the limit for this Sidbury United side.”

Tomorrow United make the short trip to Tipton St John for a cup tie (2.30pm).
