This Sunday (May 13) Sidford Tennis Club is opening up its club to celebrate its 70th Anniversary and to participate in the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Great British Tennis Weekend.

The club is keen to welcome along anyone who is interested in tennis – ranging from past members, existing members and potentially new members and families.

They are particularly appealing to past members to come along and share their memories of the club with those involved today.

Sidford Tennis Club is a community-serving group and they are very keen to both preserve, and continue to provide, such fond memories for future generations.

Folk going along on Sunday are assured of an entertaining afternoon with some social tennis, cardio tennis (for those fancying some exercise), refreshments and raffle. Amongst others involved in the triples competition will be teams from other Sid Valley sporting clubs and there’s an opportunity for people to go along and watch – or even join in.

There will also be a raffle during the day with a couple of the latest Babolat rackets (valued at £100 each) that have been donated to the club by the LTA, as prizes. Proceeds will go towards a local charity. There’s also a cake competition with the theme being ’70 years of tennis’ and there will be other things going on during the day which are sure to be great fun for all the family.

The whole event is running from 2pm through until 5pm with registration for the triples competition taking place at 2.15pm with the competition scheduled to be completed at around 4.30pm.

For those wishing to take part in cardio tennis – which will take place on court three – that is running from 2.15pm to 2.45pm, and the raffle takes place at 4pm.
