Sidford Tennis Club were represented this year at the Dartmouth Regatta Tennis Tournament.
The tournament, rated Grade 4 by the LTA, was celebrating its 50th year with a record number of entries.
Sidford’s Emma Fidge and Marilyn Barlow entered the Open event for ladies’ over 45s doubles and came away with the trophies having taken a break from competing in the competition for several years.
The final was a well-fought match against a scratch pairing from Bristol and Chiswick, and the Sidford pair thought they were going to lose it. They were losing the first set 3-0 and 4-1 then made a comeback to win it on a tie-break. They then lost the second set 6-4 having missed chances to win it. This meant a championship tie-break for the final set and the rallies went on forever, with Emma and Marilyn finally winning 10-8. For their efforts they each received silverware, a China Regatta mug and £30 prize money!
