This Sunday (June 5), Sidford Tennis Club will be staging the final session of a popular programme that has provided coaching the youngsters between the ages of five and eight.

This programme is part of the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) Davis Cup Legacy campaign to build on Great Britiain’s Davis Cup success and at the final session the children will each receive their free rackets for completing the six-week course.

Sunday’s session begins at 2pm.

The coaching programme is delivered by local coaches Sue Wiltshire and Daryl Bass, who were selected as part of a 1,000 coaches nationally to help introduce 10,000 new children to Tennis.

These courses have proved very successful and were full very quickly. As part of the delivery, the parents are very much encouraged to join in and support their children and their positive and enthusiastic participation has really helped the courses to be enjoyable at the same time as teaching the children the fundamentals of tennis.
