On a brilliant day of youth rugby, the Sidmouth U14s performed superbly to make it all the way to the Plate Final in the Devon 7’s tournament.
After going down to a defeat against Ivybridge in the opening game, Sidmouth played out a tense 14-14 draw with Exeter Saracens and then edged past Bideford, 26-24.
The Sidmouth youngsters knew they had to win their last game against Devonport Services to have a chance to reach the Plate semi-final, and win they certainly did, producing some terrific rugby to triumph 42-7.
Paignton awaited in the last four and a much tighter affair before Sidmouth came through with a 14-7 win. Unfortunately, they just ran out of steam in the final, losing 42-28 against Newton Abbot.
Still a cracking day and congratulations to Will Horn, Harry James, Aiden Reynolds, Jerry Min, Laurence Coles, Josh Stansfield, Lucas Vicary, Archie Melville-Hallett, Noah Clifton, Henry Tanner, Jack Bell, Will Russell, Eli Moss and Isaac Wall.
