Topsham 3rds 32, Sidmouth 3rd XV 15Sidmouth went to Topsham with a squad of 20 players. After a slow start conceding some points, Sdimouth changed tactics and tried keeping the ball with the pack. This worked well and the strength of Dan Stuart, Reg Turner and Frank Helmer made ground. Topsham conceded a penalty, Sidmouth kicked for the corner and succeeded with their best line out of the season (ie it worked). Sidmouth caught and drove which gave slippery scrum half Martin Ford a simple but well finished try. After more good pressure Topsham conceded another penalty and from 45 yards and a strong cross wind, Martin Ford added three more points. Just before half time Sidmouth scored another try from the strong running debut of Dillon Kawkins. The second half consisted of some good battling until the last 10 minutes, where Sidmouth made some bad mistakes and conceded three late tries. Special mention must be made to Dan Prettejohn for great game and the awesome Adam Squance for some great tackling. The game was marred by an injured to Jules Menzies who had to have an ambulance but thankfully he was not seriously injured. Sidmouth face South Molton this Saturday - anyone looking for a game call Hakim Bakrim on 07875 240343.
