Sidmouth and Ottery ladies’ thirds opened their league season with an excellent 2-1 success at home to Torbay II, writes Suzanne Thorpe.
In a lively opening both sides fashioned, and spurned, opportunities to score before the visitors broke the deadlock.
The response was good from SOHC and half-time arrived with parity restored thanks to a goal from Angharad Price-Hughes.
A key feature of the second half was the use of the bench by SOHC which saw rolling substitutes used to provide fresh legs at key times.
This gave SOHC the edge and it was no more than they deserved given the competent all-round display when Price-Hughes scored her second late on to seal opening day success.
