Archant

It was not a happy Sidmouth and Ottery men’s fifth team that trudged off the pitch in Bridport, having been completely outplayed by their hosts.

The experienced West Dorset side were quicker to pass the ball around, had some individuals with high quality stick skills and dominated throughout.

Although the fifth team players put in the effort, some poor passing often put the side under pressure and even when they did put some good attacks together, these often faltered as they neared the opposing area.

The home side’s keeper was not called into action on many occasions.

Despite the size of the defeat, there were some positives to be drawn, with five young teenagers taking up places in the team, all of whom showed they have potential for the future.

The fifth team now takes its Christmas break and will return to the fray on January 17, with the hope that there will be better results in the new year.
