Sidmouth batsman Liam Lewis scored his third century of the Francis Clark Devon League Premier Division season last Saturday and he looks certain to re-write the league history books before the end of the season, writes Stephen Birley.
No batsman has scored four centuries in a league season since the campaign was switched from 22 matches to 18 in 1999.
Since hitting a ton in a pre-season game against Bath 27-year-old Lewis has also thumped three centuries for the county side, two of them in the one-day side and his most recent being a maiden ton in the two-day win over Oxfordshire at Banbury earlier this week.
It’s been an extraordinary season so far for Lewis and the league season only reaches the halfway stage tomorrow (Saturday) when Sidmouth host North Devon at Fortfield.
Will a new record be set in front of the home faithful?
