At last - it’s nearly here - the beginning of the 2017 Sidmouth outdoor bowling season - a day all the hardy bowlers look forward to after being cooped up indoors for the past seven months, writes Susie Bonnell.

Once again, we shall venture outdoors and get our arms swinging - our opening drive this year is scheduled for this coming Suynday (April 23) with a 2pm start.

Sidmouth Bowling Club are so lucky to have some of the best kept greens in Devon, all thanks to the amazing hard work carried out by Noel and Barry and their team, who work for Leisure East Devon looking after the greens (and gardens and tennis courts) all year round. The greens will be officially handed over to outdoor captains, Karen Hollingdale and Mike Borst, at 2pm on Sunday by Jeff Turner, chairman of Sidmouth Town Council and Lester Willmington, chairman of Sidmouth Rugby Club and the fun will begin - so if you are passing by, please do sit and watch - and don’t forget, it’s never too late to think about joining our lovely friendly club.

We have a free taster session and coaching available to all new bowlers. You too could be enjoying the magnificent game of bowls.
