Sidmouth bowlers defy the rain to hold excellent barbecue event

Recently, the club held another of the popular barbecue evenings, writes Carol Smith.
Of course, given the glorious weather that the summer of 2018 has served up, we all anticipated sitting outside eating and drinking on a lovely summer’s evening.
However, that was not to be the case as the occasion was treated to weather of the wet variety – rain, rain, and yet more rain!
That said, we bowlers are a hardy bunch of souls and there was no way any inclement weather was going to prevent us enjoying our planned barbecue and so it went ahead!

The men did all the cooking outside, mostly under cover, and the ladies prepared and served the food inside.
It was a super evening organised by our entertainments committee, with Chris Hamer at the helm of her team of helpers.

The food was excellent and plenty of it! We also had some music and a raffle and of course plenty of drinks served by our bar stewards, Wendy and Mick.
It was very well attended with some 50 people enjoying themselves.
