Sidmouth Bowls latest - Easter Monday win for Reed, Bristow, Daw and Hague

Two mixed friendlies played against Chardstock and Ottery St. Mary were both won by Sidmouth, 77-31 and 89-34 respectively, writes Marian and Maurice Watson
Against Chardstock two rinks won by the comfortable margin of 18 shots. The best winning rink in the Ottery match was Ken Bridgeman, Elaine Reed, Jean Green and skip Jane Painter .
The ladies played a triples match against Madeira winning 49-33, the most successful team being Sue Mison, Zena Johnson and Chris Hamer. Two ladies rinks travelled to Budleigh Salterton winning one and losing the other; the home team winning the game by three shots. Our winning rink was Ann Elwood, Mary Bristow, Mary Turner and skip, Jane Painter.
The men entertained a team from the Devon Vice Presidents Association represented by players from three clubs, Axminster, Madeira and Padbrook Park.
The visitors won two of the three rinks and the match by 71-50. The successful Sidmouth rink was Ken Bridgman, Derek Mountford, Dutch Holland and skip Ron Cook.
The annual contest of the men’s captain’s team against his vice captain’s team played over two sessions, was closely fought on all rinks with the captain’s team coming out on top.
On Easter Monday 24 members enjoyed a game called a drive in which each team of four plays three others, each on a different rink.
The winning team with the highest shot difference was Elaine Reed, Mary Bristow, Rita Daw and skip Bert Hague.
