This bank holiday Sunday (August 27) Sidmouth Cricket Club will be hosting a charity 7-a-side fancy dress cricket tournament with play starting at 11am.

The event is being staged as an end of season celebration showcasing the clubs male and female talent in a fun format raising funds for the Halff charity who aim to improve people’s health and wellbeing by developing essential life skills across disadvantaged groups in the South West.

Alongside the rarely seen cricket in costumes there will be further entertainment for all present with music projected across the ground, guest commentary on matches, a BBQ, paddling pool corner, croquet and cricket related games for all to enter and of course a bar open throughout the day!

The majority of funds raised for the Halff charity will be raised through a raffle taking place at 4pm with well over £1,000 worth of prizes, kindly donated by businesses in the local community.

Big thanks for large raffle prizes donated go to Tolchards Drinks, Butcombe Brewery, Jurassic Physio, Woodlands Hotel, Anchor Inn, Belmont Hotel, Elizabeth Hotel, Black Horse Inn, Exeter City FC, Castle Plant & Tool Hire, Otter Brewery, Sidmouth Golf Club, Devon Massage and Molson Coors amongst other local businesses.

Sidmouth CC chairman Fionn Wardrop says: “We are hoping that lots of folk come along to the cricket club for an action packed day of fun supporting a good cause and hopefully sporting good weather!”
