A team of Year 8 and Year 10 boys and girls from Sidmouth College took part in the East Devon Tennis Tournament yesterday at King's School.

It was a lovely hot day that saw some great tennis and fantastic success for Sidmouth.

The boys were represented by Oli Turton, Sam Sparks, Rory Morgan and James Dodge for the U13s and Jack Salvidge, Sam Marriott and Tom Robins for the U15s.

In the older group stages both Marriott and Salvidge progressed, but Robins missed out on the smallest of margins, by games difference.

Marriott and Salvidge drew each other in the in the last four with Salvidge winning 3-1.

That set him up with a final appearance against a player from Colyton School who he defeated 3-0 to be crowned East Devon U15 Champion

In the Under-13 section Sparks and Morgan finished third in their groups whilst Dodge finished fourth.

Turton made it to the last eight where he went down 3-1 to the eventual winner.

In the Girls’ event, Hattie Dicks, Poppy Snowling, Elenya Madeley and Tessa Mitchell played in the U15 category and Charley Gardiner, Danni King Keast, Emily Whitehorn and Alex Mitchell played for the U13s. None of the girls managed to qualify for the semi-finals.

However Dicks and Snowling both finished second in groups of five and Mitchell tied for top place in her group only to go out on a tie-break decider.
