Barnstaple 0 Sidmouth 12 Sidmouth Colts started there Devon Cup League campaign with a cracking win away at Barnstaple

The Colts haven’t won a game away to Barum for a number of years.

This was always going to be a tough game and with 10 players out for different reasons the forwards had to re-shuffle and Dan Rugg stepped in at hooker. From the kick off Barnstaple showed there intent to play a physical game but Sidmouth matched them in every department. The 1st score came when Luke Wells-Burr finished of a fine move in the corner, this went un-converted. That was it for the 1st half but a couple of opportunities went amiss with either a knock on or dropped pass. Considering the conditions both sides were attempting to play flowing rugby, the second half saw Barnstaple attacking hard but Sidmouth’s outstanding defence kept them at bay, with 10 minutes to go George Locke intercepted a Barnstaple move to run 40m and score a converted try. This gave Sidmouth some breathing space and they were able to see out the rest of the game not allowing Barnstaple to score.

Full credit must go to all the players who tackled there hearts out, they can now go into the Christmas break sat on top of the League.
