Twenty-six keen and enthusiastic young men turned up to play this match which meant that some would be disappointed and not get a game.

And what a game it turned out to be. Sidmouth dominated the match with good territory and possession, strength, quick handling and a desire to win.

Winger Alex Dobson scored Sidmouth's first try, thanks to the speedy handling of the backs creating gaps in the defence.

A strong restart and one of numerous turn-overs by Charlie Davies, who had an outstanding game as flanker, meant Sidmouth were yet again in control.

The forwards were much quicker to the breakdowns in this match and secured the ball. Once out to the backs, James Powell drew in the opposition and timed his pass perfectly for Dobson to go over for his second.

A set move from the line out inside the 22 allowed Stuart Clode to drive through for his second of the season. Alex Spurdle and Hugo Gosden went off with injuries before half time which ended 15-0.

Once the ball was out to the backs, tries followed. Winger Robbie Ross scored early after the break followed by centre Dan Colson, who broke through from the halfway line to score under the posts, which James Powell converted.

Colson broke through again after the restart and popped the ball out to Jake Sawer who found the gap to score and Ben Pratt converted.

Torrington were struggling to get into the Sidmouth half and number 8 Ross McGilchrist drove over the line and Pratt converted to go 41 points ahead.

A solid scrum in the 22 and a quick ball on the blind side allowed Ross to score his second. With the game in the bag, Sidmouth relaxed, which enabled Torrington to score a consolation try minutes before the end of the game.

Coach Dan Trim remarked, "That was an excellent team performance and now gives us a good, solid foundation to work from. It was a 100 per cent improvement.
