Sidmouth competed against Bridport and West Dorset in the Mail on Sunday Foursomes competition, writes John Barnard.
This was the second round as Sidmouth had beaten Woodbury on the toss of a coin as both courses were unplayable at the time. Leading the way was the club manager Jonathan Lee and he obtained a half point after a ‘see-saw’ battle with his opponent. After that, Sidmouth cruised to victory as Mark Thomas won five-and-four, Moray Bosence won by one and Neil Holland won two-and-one. Martin White was the only loser and he would have done better if hadn’t kept losing balls he thought had gone straight down the fairway and were never to be seen again (at least that is what he said!).
The third round draw is awaited with interest. Playing at home is a huge advantage so fingers crossed.
