Sidmouth made it three wins from three South West Federation League outings when they saw off Cornwall (Rosevear), writes David Butler.

With both teams having similar handicap range, the home side expected to have a day of challenging croquet.

However, before lunch, four doubles and eight singles games had been played, resulting in eight wins and a draw for Sidmouth and three wins and a draw for

the Cornish side.

Two of the visitors had proved to be very proficient at jump shots, causing the striking ball to jump over the opposition ball already settled in the hoop, thus ‘stealing’ that hoop!
