Sidmouth ladies played against local rivals Honiton at Honiton in Devon Top Club, writes Mary Turner.

There were four disciplines contested, singles, pair’s, triples and rinks.

The singles was won by Sidmouth’s Jane Painter whilst the pair’s saw the Sidmouth duo lose by a single point on the final end! In the triples there was victory for the Sidmouth trio of P Pritchard, P Wrench and skip Eileen Hewett whilst Sidmouth lost the rinks meeting.

Each club was awarded two points, but Honiton won the day on shot difference, this means Sidmouth are now of any further matches.

Sidmouth played a mixed match against Plymouth RCS and won on four rinks whilst losing on two.

The highest scoring rink was A Bent, B Somerfield and skip R Tallent, well done to them!

There were two touring teams that visited Sidmouth last week. Warwickshire Boat Club were beaten on five rinks by the hosts with the other rink shared.

However, the home team did not do as well against Suffolk, losing on all six rinks!

An enjoyable time was had by all and cream teas were served after both matches.

The ladies Over-50s yellow team played at Starcross where they drew on one rink and won on the other. The winning team was Jenny Fricker, Jeann Grean and Janet Hughes. Well done ladies another point won in the league.

Sidmouth hosted a touring team from Abertillery in South Wales on a very windy day, fortunately the rain held off until after close of play.

It was a match of mixed fortunes, with Sidmouth winning one, drawing one and losing four of the matches. The winning rink was J Brimson, T Mitcham, S Cook and skip R Cook.

The weather is till being very kind to us, with no matches so far rained off. Sunday saw a visit from Leamington Spa and it was a very enjoyable game which saw Sidmouth win by six games to two.

The highest scoring rink was T Mitcham, A Mason, D Mountford and skip N Brimsom scoring a very credible 35 to 17. Well done all.
